How to Make 2015 Your Best Year Ever

#21 – “Live!”

Learning to live in the moment is a feat, indeed. We have so many distractions and obstacles in life that work to distract us and to manipulate us off course. I, for one, am easily distracted by situations that seek to weigh heavy on my heart. So I know for me, I have to find an alternative to worry or I’ll be derailed for a time. Worry fights directly against our faith; Jesus addressed it this way, “Which of you, by worrying, can add one cubit to his stature.”, indicating that worry actually gets us nowhere. I know that but it’s still a struggle for me. And this takes away your ability to ‘live’ in the moment. This is where our faith comes in. And the good news is that we’ve been given enough faith to navigate all of life’s trials. We may not be using it…..but we have it! As many times as the Lord has rescued me I should know more than anyone that everything is ultimately going to be OK. But if we’re going to ‘live‘ in the moment we must get a handle on it and actually live by faith. Living in the moment is important for a lot of reasons; if we’re distracted by all these things that go through our minds it affects our ability to good husbands or wives. Our children can suffer long term if we’re never ‘present’ with them. I’m talking about being given to the moment and our minds not wandering somewhere else.

Give yourself to the moment; don’t let distractions keep you from living in the now! Think of all the things that you have to be thankful for….and how many times He’s ‘pulled you up’; Ask Him for help….and LIVE!

Jesus said that we were to experience His joy! I’ve found that if I’m going to do that then I must live by faith. This life that He’s given us is a marvelous treasure…we should learn how to really ‘live’ it!

  1. I love this! Thanks for the reminder. This is definitely one thing I struggle with and work on daily. After my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last year, I’m not gonna lie, worry took over my life for a time. It consumed my every thought. After a lot of prayer and digging deep in my bible, I’m reminded that God has this all under control. If I give it to him, it’s not mine to worry about any longer. My job is to “live in the moment”, enjoy every second I have with my family while having faith that it’s all under control because God is in charge, I’m not. 😉

  2. Andy, I am sure you probably don’t remember me. I grew up with Dallas Ann Reynolds, sorry, Dewees. Her mom and dad kind of raised me. I worked in the office. Used to talk to your dad daily. Also knew Mont pretty good… Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blogs. They are awesome!!!!! I will have to show them to Ronnie, he will enjoy them also. I’m sure Dallas Ann will too when I show her. They touch me every day. Just had to let you know!
